Few months back Chennai based lawyer Devaraj has made a complaint that in all the theatres huge sum is being collected for watching movies. He complained that all theatre owners collect huge sum than the amount fixed by the government. Even online ticket prices are too high and he added that people are not provided with basic amenities inside a theatre.
The case was investigated in front of two judges and their statement is given below. The issue of high ticket pricing on theatres will be forwarded to revenue department and the officials will be directed to look into the matter at the earliest. Income tax, Commercial tax department will also be alerted.
The court further said that the ticket prices should not only be in printed form, but it should be implemented. So High court has warned theaters collecting huge fare. They said that stern action will be taken at once with respect to this regard.
