Actor Atharvaa Murali had a release last year in the hyperlink thriller flick Nirangal Moondru helmed by Karthick Naren with veteran actors Sarathkumar and Rahman in lead roles. The Imaikkaa Nodigal star is gearing up to open his account this year via his upcoming crime thriller titled DNA. Director Nelson Venkatesh, who has previously delivered excellent movies in the likes of Oru Naal Koothu, Monster, and Farhana, has written and directed the project. Writer Athisha Vino has offered his assistance in shaping the script of the drama.
Malayalam actress Nimisha Sajayan of Jigarthanda DoubleX fame has been paired against actor Atharvaa Murali in the film. The venture went on floors with a small pooja ceremony in late 2023, and was wrapped in the middle of 2024. The entertainer was predominantly shot across various locations in Chennai. DNA is poised to hit screens worldwide on 20th of June.
The production house has already released a single ‘Kanne Kanave’ from the album on social media. They have now launched a lyrical video song titled ‘Feelingu Paatu’. Taking to their official X profile, the production team of Olympia Movies dropped a special poster along with a link to the lyrical video song ‘Feelingu Paatu’ from DNA and wrote, “The foot-tapping and enjoyable Soga anthem Feelingu Paatu Out Now. DNA Movie From June 20th. A Sahi Siva Musical. Starring: Atharvaa Murali, & Nimisha Sajayan. Written & directed by Nelson Venkatesh. Musician Sahi Siva has penned lyrics, scored music, and lent his voice for the song. The track is mixed and mastered by Deluzshion. Speaking to a leading media house about why he chose DNA as title, director Nelson Venkatesh revealed, “It is sort of an allusion to intrigue the audience. The word holds multiple layers to it. When someone hears it, many things come to mind. There could be a thread that connects all those things in the flick.”
Explaining why he opted actors Atharvaa and Nimisha Sajayan for their parts, he disclosed, “From Atharvaa’s early days in the industry, right from Baana Kaathadi, I have been observing his performances and works. He has quite powerful eyes. It is something the character in the film demanded. As for actress Nimisha Sajayan, I guess everyone would agree that she is one of the best performers we have today. She was my only choice when I wrote her part. I am confident that this role will be an outstanding one in her career.”
Star cast of the entertainer also includes actors Balaji Sakthivel, Ramesh Thilak, Karunakaran, Chetan, Subramaniam Siva, Riythvika, Pasanga Sivakumar, and Viji Chandrasekhar. Music directors Sreekanth Hariharan, D Sathyaprakash, Pravin Saivi, and Anal Akash have composed music for a song each. While music composer Ghibran Vaibodha has scored background music for the drama. Cinematographer Parthiban has shouldered cameras for the entertainer.
Editor V J Sabu Joseph has been brought on board to work on the editing department of the flick. Art director C Uthayakumar has erected sets for the film. Stunt master Don Ashok has choreographed action blocks for the drama. The venture is funded by Ambeth Kumar and Jayanthi Ambeth Kumar under the production banner Olympia Movies along with Sanjay Shanmugam and Bharath Raj. Udhayanithi Stalin will bring the film to theaters under his production company Red Giant Movies.
On the work side, actor Atharvaa Murali is simultaneously shooting for many of his future projects Idhayam Murali directed by debutant Aakash Baskaran in which he will be partnering with actress Kayadu Lohar, Parasakthi crafted by Sudha Kongara in which he will be featuring alongside actors Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, & Sreeleela, Thanal scripted by Ravindra Madhava in which he will be sharing screen space with actress Lavanya Tripathi, and Address filmed by Raja Mohan in which he will be teaming up with actors Esakki Barath and Pooja Jhaveri.
