Ameer Sultan’s Maakaali Goes On Floors!

Actor and director Ameer Sultan was last seen on screens in a supporting role in the sports action-drama Bison Kaalamaadan helmed by Mari Selvaraj with actors Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles. The Yogi actor has inked his signature for his next project, titled Maakaali. He will be headlining the film. Debutant story teller Aravinth S B, erstwhile assistant of Mari Selvaraj, will make his directorial debut with this movie. He has been credited with the story. 

Actress Swasika of Nooru Saami fame will be seen in the female lead role in the movie. We now have news that the project has gone on floors with a small pooja ceremony in Chennai. Director Mari Selvaraj graced the event and snapped the clapperboard for the first shot of the film. The production house has now shared a couple of snaps and a video from the pooja ceremony on social media.

The one-minute odd video shows the team setting up their gear. Mari Selvaraj arrives in style. The name ‘Maakaali’ is written on a piece of paper and pasted on the board. Then we are given a glimpse of actor Ameer Sultan, who is seen donning a sarong and a shirt. He is seen welcoming the team members. The video ends with Mari Selvaraj operating the clapperboard, “Maakaali, shot one take one.”

Apart from Ameer Sultan, and Swasika, the casting team of the flick also has actors Anishma Anilkumar, Lenin Bharathi, Hariharan, and Ashwin Ram in various supporting roles. Music director Justin Prabhakaran has been contracted to score music for the movie. Cinematographer Pratheepan Selvaratnam is heading the cinematography department of the venture. 

Editor Selva R K has been bestowed with the responsibility to bring coherence to the entertainer. Art director Ramu Thangaraj is designing the background for the project. Stunt director Dhilip Subbarayan is serving as the stunt coordinator for the flick. The entertainer is backed by Mari Selvaraj himself along with his wife Divya Mari Selvaraj under the production house Navvi Studios, in affiliation with K Karunamoorthy under the production company Ayngaran International. 

On the work front, actor Ameer Sultan is expecting the release of his OTT series Nilamellam Ratham filmed by Ramesh Balakrishnan, and Narkali scripted by V Z Dhorai in which he has partnered with actor Imman Annachi. The Vada Chennai actor is now immersed in his upcoming Tamil movie Arasan directed by Vetrimaaran in which he will be collaborating with actors Vijay Sethupathi, Silambarasan, & Andrea Jeremiah, Vetta Saami created by M Selvakumar in which he will be seen alongside actor Arulnithi Tamilarasu, and Vaadivaasal helmed by Vetrimaaran in which he will be costarring with actors Suriya & Andrea Jeremiah.  

On the other hand, actress Swasika Vijay will soon have a release in the digital space via Legacy helmed by Charukesh Sekar in which she has performed with actors Madhavan, Gautham Ram Karthik, & Abarnathi. The Karuppu actress is currently shooting for her next Tamil venture provisionally titled PRS 01 crafted by The Alpha Unit, Giriprasath, & Ilamparithi in which she will be costarring with actors Ashwath Marimuthu & Mamitha Baiju, a Malayalam film Price Of Police directed by Unni Madhav in which she will be associating with actors Kalabhavan Shajon & Miya George, and a Telugu flick tentatively christened NBK 111 scripted by Gopichand Malineni in which she will be teaming up with actors Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sanjay Dutt, & Kajal Aggarwal.
