Actor Sasi Kumar catapulted himself into the hearts of Tamil audience through the classic cult drama Subramaniapuram. Unfortunately, after that flick the actor has not had a solid commercial success in the industry yet. But the actor has several movies in his kitty to pull one soon. The Kutty Puli actor was last seen on screen in the sports action drama Kaari which hit the theaters under the direction of debutant story teller M. Hemanth Kumar with actress Parvathi Arun as the female lead. The film was released in theaters on 25th of November this year. The drama did not live up to the expectations of the audience, and as a result did not do well in the box office. Now, we have an update on the project.
The production house has announced on social media that the entertainer will be released on OTT platform. Kaari will be screened on ZEE5 video streaming platform on 23rd of this month. Music director D Imman has announced the news. Taking to his official twitter handle, the musician shared a poster from the flick, and wrote, “Kaari premieres on December 23 only on the ZEE5 app! Actor Sasi Kumar plays the character Sethu, a proficient horse jockey based in Chennai whose life gets embroiled in the fight against corporates in support of the villagers of Kaariyoor in Ramnad district of Tamil Nadu. Kaari is themed around corporate greed, pro animal liberation, and the morality of meat eating. Speaking to a leading media house in the state, producer S. Lakshman said, “Kaari is a complete family entertainer. There is love, loss, pain, betrayal, sacrifice, and action sequences to keep the audience invested till the very end. The film also explores our tradition, significance of Jallikattu, and how all these are endangered by corporate cupidity. I am glad that Kaari is going to stream on the ZEE5 OTT platform. Our film will now be reaching a larger pool of audience. I am positive that the audience will love it.”
Actress Parvathi Arun made her debut in Kollywood as the lead heroine through Kaari. The casting department of the movie has J. D. Chakravarthy, Balaji Shaktivel, Aadukalam Naren, big boss fame actress Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, Ammu Abhirami, Redin Kingsley, Nagineedu, Ram Kumar Ganesan, Prem, Namo Narayana, and Arunmozhithevan in various other supporting roles. Music director D. Imman has scored the music for the entertainer. Cinematographer Ganesh Chandra has cranked the camera for the flick. Editor Shiva Nandeeswaran has trimmed the project. Action choreographers Anbariv duo has designed the action blocks for the venture. The entertainer is bankrolled by S. Lakshman Kumar for the production company Prince Pictures.
On the work front, actor Sasi Kumar who had his last outing in the sports action drama Kaari is currently busy shooting for his next flick titled Naa Naa directed by film maker Nirmal Kumar in which he will be collaborating with actor Sarath Kumar, for Pagaivanukku Arulvai crafted by director Anis in which he will be co starring with actresses Vani Bhojan and Bindhu Madhavi, and for Nandhan under the direction of story teller Era Saravanan in which he will be sharing the screen space with actress Suruthi Periyasamy. On the other hand, Malayalam actress Parvathi Arun is gearing up for the release of her upcoming Tamil movie christened Memories directed by Syam Praveen in which she will be seen alongside actor Vetri, and her Kannada drama christened Lankasura helmed by director Pramod Muniswamy.
