Actor Arun Vijay had his last outing earlier this year in the action movie Vanangaan crafted by director Bala with actress Roshni Prakash in the female lead role. The Yaanai actor is now eagerly anticipating the release of his next action thriller titled Retta Thala. The Kuttram 23 star is said to have played dual roles in the film. Story teller Kris Thirukumaran, who shot to fame with Maan Karate and Gethu, has written and helmed the drama.
Actress Tanya Ravichandran of Nenjuku Needhi fame and Siddhi Idnani of Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam fame have depicted female lead roles in the entertainer. The shoot for Retta Thala took place in and around the neighborhoods of Chennai, Pondicherry, Tharangampadi, and Goa. The movie which was wrapped earlier this year has been in post-production stage ever since. The production house has now dropped the teaser of the flick on social media.
Taking to their official X account, the production team of BTG Universal shared a small clip from the teaser along with a link to the teaser of Retta Thala and wrote, “Fueled with action. One minute teaser cut of Retta Thala opens to a dead body being recovered from a waterbody to someone swearing, “We have to kill the one who killed Teja.” Subsequently, we have a character saying, “I have seen him as a head. And I have seen him chop heads.” We witness actor Arun Vijay in shadow severing someone’s head. In a shot we see someone warning, “Do you know whom you have challenged? Upendra. . . Malpe Upendra.”
In a scene actor Balaji Murugadoss says to a character, “Goa is not the same as it was before. Don’t you know?” He responds, “Goa is not the same. But Upendra is the same old Upendra. A tiger is always a tiger.” The teaser ends with someone telling Arun Vijay, “You are eviler than the devil Upendra.”
Beside Arun Vijay, Tanya Ravichandran, and Siddhi Idnani, the star cast of Retta Thala also has actors John Vijay, Yogesh Samy, Hareesh Peradi, Yog Japee, Nitish Nirmal, Vincent Asokan, and Balaji Murugadoss essaying various supporting roles. Music director Sam C S has been roped in to oversee the musical division of the film. Actor Dhanush has sung a song in the flick.
Cinematographer Tijo Tomy has worked on the cinematography department of the venture. Editor Antony has been brought on board to bring coherence to the movie. Art director Arunshankar Durai has designed sets for the drama. Action directors Anbu, Ariv, and Prabhu Chandrasekar have choreographed action blocks for the project. Retta Thala is bankrolled by Bobby Balachandran under the production label BTG Universal.
On the work front, actor Arun Vijay will soon have his next release in Idly Kadai which is directed and headlined by actor Dhanush with actresses Nithya Menen and Shalini Pandey as female leads. Apart from this venture, the Sinam star has his long-delayed flicks Agni Siragugal crafted by director Naveen in which he has collaborated with actors Vijay Antony & Akshara Haasan, and Borrder helmed by Arivazhagan in the trunk awaiting release.
On the other side, actress Tanya Ravichandran will next be seen on screens in Tamil in the female centric drama Rekkai Mulaithen scripted by S R Prabhakaran.
