Actor Gautham Karthik who ventured into Tamil cinema through Mani Ratnam’s Kadal has been in a rough patch for some time now. He has not delivered a solid commercial success in a long time. The Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu actor was last seen in the action-drama Yutha Satham which hit the screens under the directorial of Ezhil with actor Parthiban in the lead. The entertainer failed to get the attention of the audience, and thus had a bad business. The actor has now put that behind him, and is currently busy shooting for his next project christened Criminal. Actress Janani of Thegidi fame will be portraying the female lead role. Storyteller Dhakshina Moorthy Ramar has written the script, and is directing the entertainer. The venture went on floors with a small pooja ceremony at the beginning of this year. The shoot for the project was underway in Madurai.
Now, the production house has announced on social media that the first schedule of shoot for the drama has been wrapped. Actor Gautham Karthik himself has shared the news. Taking to his official twitter account, the actor dropped a snap of himself with the team, and wrote, “And it’s a wrap for the Madurai schedule of Criminal. Had a wonderful time working with this team! Can’t wait to start the next schedule tomorrow.” Here is the tweet made by the actor.

Criminal is touted to be an intense crime thriller set at the backdrop of Madurai. Actor Gautham Karthik will be seen in the role of a history sheeter, while veteran actor Sarath Kumar will be playing a cop in the flick. There is news that the production house has plans to wrap the shoot in a tight schedule as they are eyeing to bring the film to theaters for summer this year.
Apart from actors Gautham Karthik, and Janani, the casting division of the film has actors Sarath Kumar, Karunakaran, Raveena Ravi, Subathra Robert, Maaran, Deepthie Orintelu, and P L Thenappan in various other supporting roles. Music director Sam C S has been put in charge of the musical department of the drama. Cinematography Prasanna S Kumar has been shouldering the camera for the flick. Editor J V Manikanda Balaji has been brought on board to edit the venture. Art director B Sekar will be designing the background for the movie. While stunt master R Sakthi Saravanan will be choreographing action blocks for the entertainer. The drama is bankrolled by P R Meenakshi Sundaram under the production label Parsa Pictures Pvt Ltd along with I B Karthikeyan for the banner house Big Print Pictures.
On the work front, actor Gautham Karthik who was last seen on screens in the action thriller Yutha Satham is gearing up for the release of his next project titled Pathu Thala directed by film maker Obeli N Krishna in which he has shared the screen space with actors Silambarasan, and Priya Bhavani Shankar. The Hara Hara Mahadevaki actor is currently busy shooting for his upcoming movie August 16 1947 filmed by N S Ponkumar in which he will be seen alongside debutant actress Revathy. On the other hand, actress Janani who had her last outing in the romantic thriller Vezham is currently busy shooting for her upcoming movie titled Munnarivaan under the direction of storyteller Vijay Raj in which she will be sharing screen space with actor Bharath, for Yakkai Thiri crafted by Bharath Mohan in which she will be collaborating with actor Bharath, and for Bagheera helmed by director Adhik Ravichandran in which she will be co starring with actors Prabhu Deva, and Amyra Dastur. Apart from these projects, the actress has Thollaikatchi scripted by M Sadiq Khan in which she has romanced actor Ashwin Kakumanu in the post production stage getting shaped for release.
