Actor Kathir had his last outing in the murder mystery flick Yugi which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller Zac Harris with actors Natty and Narain in lead roles. The entertainer did not live up to the expectations of the audience. As a result, it left the theaters unnoticed. The Vikram Vedha actor has put that behind him, and has moved on to his next venture christened Aasai. Actress Divya Bharti of Bachelor fame has portrayed the female lead part. Director Shiv Mohaa, who had previously helmed Zero, has penned and directed the project. The venture which went on floors with a small pooja ceremony a while ago, is now wrapped, and is in the post production stage getting fine tuned for release.
Now, the production house has released the first single track ‘Kadhal Kannadi’ from the film on social media. Actor Kathir himself has dropped the song. Taking to his official twitter page, the Kirumi actor shared a poster from the flick along with a link to the first single track, and wrote, “Kadhal Kannadi from Aasai Check this out!” Here is the tweet made by the actor.

Lyricist Viveka has penned the lyrics of the song. Singers Kapil Kapilan and Srinisha Jayaseelan have crooned the song. When the title of the film was announced, it garnered the attention of a lot of people as there is an Ajith movie with the same name. There were speculations about a possible remake of the project. However, Aasai happens to be an official remake of hit Malayalam drama Ishq which was released in the year 2019 starring actors Shane Nigam, Ann Sheetal, Shine Tom Chacko, and Leona Lishoy in lead roles. Ishq was also remade in Telugu. Unfortunately, the film did not replicate the success that its parent version enjoyed.
Earlier speaking about the project, director Shiv Mohaa, said, “I have done a little changes here and there to the original script to better suit the taste of Tamil audience. I liked the original version of the drama very much. The ending had a great impact on me. So, when the opportunity to remake the film was presented, I immediately jumped on the wagon.” Explaining the rationale behind why he went with the title Aasai, the director stated, “I felt this would be a fitting title for the entertainer. Besides, I am a huge fan of actor Ajith Kumar. Using the title of one of his hit films feels exhilarating.”
Apart from actors Kathir and Divya Bharathi, the casting division of the drama has actors Shamna Kasim and Linga essaying pivotal roles. Music director Revaa will be handling musical instruments for the movie. Cinematographer Babu Kumar has been behind the lens for the flick. Editor Sudharshan R has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the venture. Art director Raja Mohan S has designed the background for the project. Stunt master Pradeep Dinesh has choreographed action moves for the film. The entertainer is produced by A Kumar under the production company Eagle’s Eye Productions.
On the work front, actor Kathir who was last seen on screens in the crime thriller Yugi is currently busy shooting for his next venture titled Iyalvathu Karavel under the direction of story teller S l Henry in which he will be sharing screen space with actor Mahendran. On the other hand, actress Divya Bharti who had her last outing in the likes of the romantic drama Bachelor is currently busy shooting for her upcoming flick christened Madhil Mel Kaadhal helmed by Anjana Ali Khan in which she will be seen alongside actor Mugen Rao.
