Actor Karthi’s epic historical drama Ponniyin Selvan part 1 under the direction of director Mani Ratnam has hit the screens this weekend. The entertainer has been bestowed with positive reviews by both the fans and critics. There is news that all shows throughout the state are sold out for the first four days. While basking in the success of the flick, the Aayirathil Oruvan actor is next gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie christened Sardar. Actress Raashi Khanna has essayed the female lead role in the flick. Filmmaker P. S. Mithran of Irumbu Thirai fame has helmed the drama. The movie which went on floors some time ago has been done and dusted. Now, we have an interesting update on the venture.
The production house has announced the release date of Sardar, and has dropped the teaser of the drama on social media. The entertainer is poised to hit the theaters on Diwali this year. Actor Karthi himself has shared the news along with the teaser. Taking to his official twitter account the actor shared the teaser with the message, “This film has demanded a lot of creative effort out of us. Very proud to present the grand teaser of Sardar. The teaser opens with a voiceover narrating that someone has infiltrated the Indian army confiscation vault which has the documentation of the entire Indian intelligence. If the confidential data becomes public, it would be chaos. Then we are told of a spy who is behind the infiltration. The cops say that he has 8 passports and that they have interrogated him for over 600 times. Every time he uses a different language and a story. Even the lie detector has cleared him every single time. After huge hype, comes the hero introduction where we witness actor Karthi donning multiple getups as an espionage agent thrashing cops and henchmen on his mission. The fans of the actor have jumped right in, and are pouring in their wishes to the teaser through their comments. The teaser has clocked millions of views already. One can be certain that the teaser will bolster the interest of the audience.
Apart from actors Karthi and Raashi Khanna, Sardar has veteran actress Laila making her come back to Kollywood nearly after one and a half decade. The casting of the drama has actors Rajisha Vijayan, Munishkanth, Chunky Pandey, Murali Sharma, Ilavarasu, Sahana Vasudevan, and Rithvik playing various other supporting roles. Music director G. V. Prakash Kumar has handled the musical instruments for the entertainer. Cinematographer George C. Williams has been behind the lens for the flick. Editor Ruben will be taking care of the editing division. The venture is bankrolled by S. Lakshman Kumar under the production house Prince Pictures. Udhayanithi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies has bagged the distribution rights of Sardar.
On the work front, actor Karthi who was last seen on screens in Ponniyin Selvan part 1 will soon begin to shoot for his next project titled Japan under the directorial of story teller Raju Murugan in which he will be sharing the screen space with actress Rashmika Mandanna. On the other hand, actress Raashi Khanna who was last seen in Tamil in director Mithran R Jawahar’s direction Thiruchitrambalam is currently getting ready for the release of her Hindi project titled Yodha helmed by film makers Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha in which she has shared the screen space with actors Sidharth Malhotra and Disha Patani. Apart from this movie, the actress has her long-delayed venture christened Shaitan Ka Bachcha filmed by director G. Krish with actor Siddharth in the lead awaiting release.
