Actor Harish Kalyan who willingly got into the chocolate boy image is now on a mission to shred it. The Pyaar Prema Kaadhal actor was last seen in the romantic flick Oh Manapenne which hit the theaters last year under the direction of film maker Kaarthikk Sundar with actress Priya Bhavani Shankar in the female lead role. The project opened to negative reviews, and thus failed to create noise in the box office. But the actor has put that behind him, and is now busy shooting for his upcoming venture christened Diesel. Story teller Shanmugam Muthusamy of Adangathey fame is directing the movie. The venture went on floors last year with a small pooja ceremony. Recently, the production house unveiled the first look poster of the drama on social media which garnered the attention of the audience.
Now, we have news that the project has reached the final leg of shooting. Actor Harish Kalyan himself has shared the news on social media. Taking to his official Instagram account, the actor posted a video of himself with his co-star Tiger Thangadurai standing on a beach, and wrote, “Marching towards the end of the final schedule. Diesel is touted to be a crime drama set in the underworld. Speaking to a leading media house in the state about the entertainer, director Shanmugam Muthusamy stated, “Diesel has a contemporary issue at its heart. As the name gives away it is regarding the fuel industry. The film will explore what and how the pricing of such an important commodity is fixed, and the politics behind it.” Explaining about the amount of work he had to put in for scripting the script, he said, “More or less I spent around five years doing my research to add vital things to the story.” On why he chose actor Harish Kalyan, he said, “He is growing up to be Tamil cinema’s chocolate boy. That is the type of role he has been selecting. But I thought he could do both, romance, and action. In Diesel, we have removed the rose that he has been carrying around and handed him a blade.”
Besides actor Harish Kalyan, Diesel has actress Athulya Ravi of Capmaari fame essaying the female lead role. Actor Vinay Rai of Unnale Unnale fame will be seen in the antagonist part. The casting division of the drama has Ananya of Nadodigal fame, Sai Kumar, Tiger Thangadurai, KYP Dheena, Vivek Prasanna, and Karunaas playing various other supporting roles. Music director Dhibu Ninan Thomas of Kanaa fame will be composing the music for the entertainer. Cinematographer M. S. Prabhu has been behind the lens for the flick. The editing department of the movie has been handed over to editor San Lokesh. The project is produced by Devarajulu Markandeyan for the production company Third Eye Entertainment.
On the work front, actor Harish Kalyan who had his last outing in the romance drama Oh Manapenne is getting ready for the release of his upcoming venture christened Nooru Kodi Vaanavil helmed by film maker Sasi in which he has shared the screen space with actress Siddhi Idnani. The actor is currently busy shooting for his next untitled project under the direction of story teller Shanmugam Muthusamy, and for Star which is helmed by director Elan. On the other hand, actress Athulya Ravi who was last seen on screens in a supporting role in Cadaver is currently busy shooting for Vattam directed by Kamalakannan in which she will be seen alongside actor Sibi Sathyaraj.
