Superstar Rajinikanth had his last outing in the action drama Vettaiyan crafted by storyteller T J Gnanavel with actors Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati in lead roles. The Annaatthe actor is now eagerly expecting the release of his next project Coolie. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has collaborated with superstar Rajinikanth for the first time in his career. Writer Chandhru Anbazhagan has penned dialogues, and helped in shaping the flow of the entertainer.
Actress Shruti Haasan has been cast opposite the actor in the movie. Veteran actor Sathyaraj will be seen in negative shades in the film. The shoot for the film took place in the vicinities of Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Bangkok. The production unit has already announced that the flick will hit theaters worldwide on 14th of August this year in languages Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
The makers have now launched the first single from the album on social media. Taking to his official X handle, musician Anirudh Ravichander himself unveiled a special poster along with a link to the first single of Coolie and wrote, “Chikitu. Coolie Coolie First Single Superstar Rajinikanth in a Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. Sun Pictures. With the legendary TR sir, the genius Arivu and thank you Sandy Master for making us dance. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander is partnering with actor Rajinikanth for the fifth time following their hits in Petta, Darbar, Jailer, and Vettaiyan. He has also crooned the track with singers T Rajendar and Arivu. The song is mixed by Vinay Sridhar & M Srinivasan, and mastered by Rupendar Venkatesh. Arivu has penned lyrics for the track. Dance choreographer Sandy Master has choreographed dance moves for the song.
Earlier speaking about her experience on working with superstar Rajinikanth actress Shruti Haasan stated, “Until Coolie my interactions with Rajini sir was minimal to just cordial formalities. I never really knew him that well. It was a good experience working with him in the film.”
Talking about one of the things she admired about him, she revealed, “Every artist needs to be appreciated to stay motivated. When his co stars perform well, he would appreciate them without any hesitation. Receiving recognition from a star in such tall stature goes a long way for an artist.”
The casting crew of the entertainer also includes Kannada superstar Upendra, Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna, Kaali Venkat, Monisha Blessy, Soubin Shahir, Reba Monica John, and Junior MGR. Actress Pooja Hegde will appear in an item number. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan will be seen in an extended cameo role in the drama.
Cinematographer Girish Gangadharan has taken care of the cinematography division of the movie. Editor Philomin Raj has been engaged to bring coherence to the project. Art director P Shanmugam has erected sets for the flick. Action directors Anbu and Arivu have choreographed action blocks for the venture. The film is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under his production label Sun Pictures.
On the work side, actor Rajinikanth is presently busy shooting for Jailer 2 under the direction of Nelson Dilipkumar in which he will be seen alongside actors S J Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa Menon, and Yogi Babu.
On the other hand, actress Shruti Haasan is enthusiastically anticipating the release of her next project Jana Nayagan directed by H Vinoth in which she has shared screen space with actors Vijay & Pooja Hegde, and Train filmed by Mysskin in which she has joined forces with actor Vijay Sethupathi. The Vedalam actress is currently occupied in her upcoming Telugu movie Salaar: Shouryanga Parvam Part 2 helmed by Prashanth Neel in which she will be co starring with actor Prabhas.
