Actor Vikram Prabhu last graced the silver screens a couple of months back in the romantic comedy drama Love Marriage helmed by Shanmuga Priyan with actress Sushmitha Bhat in the female lead role. The Vaanam Kottattum star will soon be seen on screens yet again in his upcoming flick titled Sirai. Debutant story teller Suresh Rajakumari, erstwhile assistant of auteur Vetri Maaran, has crafted the movie. Director Tamil Arasan, who helmed Vikram Prabhu in Taanakkaran, has written the story of the entertainer.
Popular internet sensation and dancer Ananda Thambirajah is set to make her debut in Kollywood with her female lead role in the film. Malayalam actress Anishma Anilkumar will open her account in Tamil cinema with a prominent role in the flick. The film also marks the debut of producer S S Lalit Kumar’s son L K Akshay Kumar as an actor. The shoot for the movie took place across multiple regions in Chennai, Vellore, and Sivagangai.
The production house has now dropped the first look poster of the drama on social media. Taking to his official X profile, director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared the first look poster of Sirai and extended his birthday wishes to the producer of the flick, “Glad to unveil the First Look of Sirai. My hearty wishes to Akshay Kumar on his debut, Vikram Prabhu and the entire cast and crew all the very best. And Lalit sir a very Happy Birthday.” Here is the post made by the story teller.
Sirai First Look Poster
The first look poster of Sirai has actor Vikram Prabhu as a cop, who seems to be waiting outside a court along with his team with L K Akshay Kumar and Anishma Anilkumar in their custody. Talking to a leading daily about the drama, director Suresh Rajakumari said, “Sirai is based on a real-life story that our writer Tamil Arasan experienced while he was working as a cop. Let me make one thing clear, this will not be the larger-than-life cop character.”
Speaking further he explained, “The cop character is rooted in reality. He understands the police system well, and knows how cruel it can be to people. He will not be stern and inhumane but at the same time he will not be a revolutionary either. It is a character like you and me that does not want to stand out alone, rather wants to be within the system yet fight to retain the human characteristics.”
Revealing why he opted to direct someone else’s story on his debut he stated, “Things do not really go as you expect it to go in the cinema industry. We must adapt to work on the best opportunity that comes our way. I have had extensive discussions with Tamil Arasan sir on the story. I just had to make a few small changes to the screenplay like the time frame and stuff to make it suitable for the present-day.”
The production house is yet to reveal the rest of the artists that are part of the cast. Music director Justine Prabhakaran has been roped in to compose music for the flick. Cinematographer Madhesh Manickam has worked on the cinematography department of the movie.
Editor Philomin Raj has been brought on board to take care of the editing division of the project. Art director Amaran has designed the background for the venture. Stunt master Prabhu has fashioned action moves for the film. The entertainer is bankrolled by S S Lalit Kumar along with Vishnu Kumar under the production company Seven Screen Studios.
On the professional front, actor Vikram Prabhu is eagerly anticipating the release of his next Tamil Telugu bilingual film Ghaati scripted by director Krish Jagarlamudi in which he will be sharing screen space with actress Anushka Shetty. The Pulikkuthi Pandi actor is currently occupied in his future ventures christened Pagaiye Kathiru helmed by Manivel in which he will be costarring with actresses Smruthi Venkat & Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Rathamum Sadhaiyum directed by Harendhar Balachandar.
