We had recently reported that veteran actor Sathyaraj and Vasanth Ravi of Rocky fame have teamed up to play the lead roles in the project titled Weapon. Film maker Guhan Senniappan who had previously directed the web series Vella Raja will be directing the flick. The pre-production work for the venture is happening in full swing. The movie will go on floors by the beginning of next month. Now, the production house has shared the first look poster of the flick on social media.
Actor Vasanth Ravi himself has shared the poster. Taking to his official twitter account, the actor shared the first look poster and wrote, “Proud and delighted to showcase the 1st look poster of a very exciting film called Weapon, directed by an amazing young talent Guhan Senniappan and produced by a passionate producer M S Manzoor under Million Studio. Can’t wait to start shooting for this along with Sathyaraj sir.” Here is the post made by the actor.

Talking to a leading media house in the state about the film, storyteller Guhan Senniappan said, “After finishing Vella Raja, I penned a script for another entertainer. But since that script involved extensive CG works, it demanded an enormous budget. I found it difficult to pitch the script to producers. So, I decided to write the story of Weapon which would sort of set the mood for that project. When I presented it to Manzoor he was interested in the storyline, and immediately agreed. This film will not have much CG works but it will have high octane action sequences.” Speaking on why he chose to cast actors Sathyaraj and Vasanth Ravi, he stated, “When penning the story, both Sathyaraj sir and Vasanth Ravi were the first set of actors to come to my mind to play the lead characters. I know it would sound cliched, but they will be seen in a getup that they have not played in their career.”
Speaking further, he said, “Of late, Sathyaraj sir has been essaying the role of a father a lot. But in Weapon he will play a character which is very aggressive, and will not hesitate to destroy the lives of people for its personal gains. I have been following Sathyaraj sir since the days of Amaidhi Padai. For me, his performance in the drama was one of his best. My character in Weapon kind of needed that twistedness. As for Vasanth Ravi, he has an equally powerful role. He will be seen with a beardless look.” On when he will begin to shoot for the entertainer, he explained, “Currently, we are in hunt for an actress to play the female lead. Following that we will begin to shoot from next month. We have planned to shoot in Chennai and a hill station, which we have not finalized yet.”
The rest of the cast that will be part of the project is expected to be announced soon. Music director Ghibran will be handling the musical instruments for the entertainer. Cinematographer Prabhu Rhagav will be behind the camera for the movie. Editor Nash will be editing the flick. Art director Subendar will be erecting sets for the venture. Master Sudesh will be choreographing the stunt sequences on the flick. The venture is funded by M S Manzoor for the banner house Million Studio.
On the work front, actor Sathyaraj who was last seen on screens in Tamil in the comedy drama Veetla Vishesham is currently busy shooting for his upcoming venture titled Prince under the direction of story teller Anudeep K. V in which he will be seen alongside actor Sivakarthikeyan. On the other hand, actor Vasanth Ravi who was last seen on screens in the crime drama Rocky is currently busy shooting for his next project christened Jailer helmed by filmmaker Nelson in which he will be sharing the screen space with superstar Rajinikanth.
