Actor K Manikandan is basking in the blockbuster success of his comedy movie Kudumbastan helmed by debutant director Rajeshwar Kalisamy with actors Saanve Megghana and Guru Somasundaram in the lead roles. The 8 Thottakkal actor is now busy shooting for his upcoming social drama titled Makkal Kaavalan. Newbie story teller Santhosh Kumar, has written and is directing the entertainer.
Telugu actress Divya Sripada will be making her debut in Tamil cinema with her female lead role in the film. The production team recently wrapped the first schedule of shoot for the entertainer. The makers are planning to finish filming the venture by the end of this year. Meanwhile, they have now released the first look poster of the flick on social media.

The monochrome themed first look poster of Makkal Kaavalan features the side face of actor Manikandan dressed as a cop, with a riot zone in the background. The first look poster also carries a note, ‘Heroes are not born. They are made.’
Speaking about the movie, director Santhosh Kumar said, “The story of the film is inspired by my personal experiences and real-life incidents that I witnessed. The nucleus of the drama is how power structures within big institutions lead to inequality. The narrative revolves around an upright man and the impediments that he faces when he tries to uphold his principles within that institution.”
Apart from K Manikandan and Divya Sripada, the casting unit of Makkal Kaavalan also has actors R K Vijai Murugan, Sabumon Abdusamad, Shanmugam Muthusamy, Unni Maya Prasad, A Venkatesh, Ragu Esaki, Jenson Diwakar, Lallu, Vaigai Chandrasekar, and Gemini Mani in various supporting roles.
Music director Nivas K Prasanna has been roped in to score music for the project. Cinematographer Pratheepan Selvaratnam is taking care of the cinematography department of the venture. Editor Arul Moses has been brought on board to work on the editing of the flick.
Art director Uthaya is fashioning sets for the drama. Action director Ashok Kumar is choreographing action blocks in the flick. Makkal Kaavalan is bankrolled by Pa Ranjith along with Aditi Anand under the production label Neelam Studios, in affiliation with Ananya Birla for the production company Birla Studios.
On the work front, actor K Manikandan is currently busy shooting for his future movies Arasan helmed by Vetrimaaran in which he will be sharing screen space with actors Silambarasan, Vijay Sethupathi, & Andrea Jeremiah, an untitled Tamil drama filmed by Desingh Periyasamy of Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal fame, and an untitled Hindi project scripted by Atlee in which he will be seen alongside actors Salman Khan, S J Suryah, & Tara Sutaria.
On the other hand, actress Divya Sripada is now engaged in her next Telugu flick Evaru Ekkada Enduku crafted by K V Guhan in which she will be teaming up with actors Thrigun, Shivani Rajashekar, Sandeep Bharadwaj, & Divya Drishti.
