This calendar year has been a fantastic one for actor Karthi. The actor who started this year with a voiceover in Vikram had a good box office collection for his action drama Viruman in the rural parts of the state. He followed it with the mammoth success of the epic historical movie Ponniyin Selvan. Actor Karthi was last seen in the action thriller Sardar which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller P S Mithran with actress Rashi Khanna in the female lead role. The entertainer opened to mixed reviews from the critics and audience. But despite that went on to register a decent commercial success. The Aayirathil Oruvan actor has now moved on to his next project christened Japan. Film maker Raju Murugan of Joker fame will be helming the drama. The movie recently went on floors with a small pooja ceremony.
Now, the production house has released the first look poster of the film on social media in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. Actor Karthi himself has shared the posters. Taking to his official twitter handle the actor shared the first look posters with the message, “Excited to start this journey of a quirky guy! Japan. The first look poster of Japan has actor Karthi passed out on a couch donning a red attire with his shoes right nearby him. He is seen in a quirky getup borrowing his hairstyle from the 70’s. Behind the couch is a big portrait of him wearing a bunch of gold rolo chains. From the poster he seems to be a guy pursuing a materialistic lifestyle. We also see a woman’s leg in the frame. It is a known fact that storyteller Raju Murugan has a leaning towards making flicks based on social issues. But the first look of Japan seems contrary to his style of filmmaking. One can be certain something interesting is getting cooked in Japan.
Apart from actor Karthi, Japan has actress Anu Emmanuel playing the female lead role. The casting department of the drama has Telugu actors Sunil and Vijay Milton essaying pivotal supporting roles. Music director G. V. Prakash Kumar will be handling the musical instruments for the entertainer. Cinematographer Ravi Varman will be behind the camera for the flick. Editor Philomin Raj will be taking care of the editing division. Stunt man Anbariv will be choreographing the action blocks for the drama. The venture is bankrolled by S R Prabhu along with S R Prakash Babu under the production house Dream Warrior Pictures. Japan will be the sixth flick for the production house with actor Karthi after Saguni, Kashmora, Theeran, Adhigaram Ondru, Kaithi, and Sultan.
On the work front, actor Karthi who was last seen on screens in Sardar is currently busy shooting for the sequel of the epic historical drama Ponniyin Selvan under the direction of film maker Mani Ratnam in which he will be sharing the screen space with actors Jayam Ravi and Vikram. Apart from this project, the actor has his long-delayed venture Party helmed by story teller Venkat Prabhu in the box waiting to see the light of the day. On the other hand, actress Anu Emmanuel who was last seen on screen in Tamil in Namma Veettu Pillai is currently busy shooting for her upcoming Telugu drama titled Ravanasura directed by story teller Sudheer Varma in which she will be seen alongside actor Ravi Teja.
