Film maker Gautham Vasudev Menon has been in a rough patch in the industry for over a decade. In the past six years he has delivered just two ventures. Ennai Nokki Paayum Thota with actor Dhanush in the lead was the last drama to hit the screens under his direction. The entertainer opened up to negative reviews and did not do well in the box office. The Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu director is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming gangster drama dubbed Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu with actor Silambarasan in the lead. The movie which went on floors a long while back is nearing the end line after crossing many hindrances. It is a known thing that music director A. R. Rahman is composing the music for the film. He is collaborating with director Gautham Vasudev Menon once again after Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada, and Enai Noki Paayum Thota.

Now the film is in the final stage of the post production work where the background score is being added to the visuals. Junior musician AH Kaashif has shared the news along with a picture of himself with director Gautham Vasudev Menon, and A. R. Rahman, working in the studio. Taking to his official twitter handle the aspiring musician shared the picture, and wrote, “Grateful and blessed to work on this amazing project, VTK background score in full swing.”
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is slated to hit the theaters worldwide on 15th of September. The production house recently released the trailer of the flick in a grand function. Actor Kamal Hassan unveiled the trailer. On the social media the trailer has enjoyed a great reception among the audience and has clocked millions of views. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is about the life journey of a youngster hailing from a humble background. Silambarasan essays the character named Muthu. He has shed around 15 kilos for the role. Popular Tamil writer B. Jeyamohan has penned the story for Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu. The film marks the third time association of director Gautham Vasudev Menon and Silambarasan after their classic romance drama Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, and the romantic action thriller Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. Naturally, the expectations are high even this time around.
Apart from actor Silambarasan, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has actress Siddhi Idnani playing the female lead part. The casting department of the entertainer includes actors Raadhika Sarathkumar, Siddique, Neeraj Madhav, and Angelina Abraham essaying various other supporting roles. The cinematography work for the flick has been done by cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni. The editing division of the movie has been handed over to editor Anthony. The venture is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under his banner house Vels Film International. Udhayanithi Stalin of Red Giant Movies has bagged the theatrical rights.
On the work front, storyteller Gautham Vasudev Menon who lastly helmed a short film in the anthology drama Kutty Story has two of his long-delayed projects titled Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha and Dhruva Natchathiram on the shelves waiting for release. On the other hand, actor Silambarasan who was last seen on screens in Maha is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming dual hero subject christened Pathu Thala scripted by storyteller Obeli N. Krishna in which he will be seen alongside actor Gautham Karthik. Apart from this venture, the Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa actor will soon begin to shoot for his next project titled Corona Kumar helmed by director Gokul.
