Actor Rio Raj was last seen on screens in the romantic film Joe directed by S Hariharan Ram with actresses Malavika Manoj and Bhavya Trikha as female leads. The drama was pinned with negative reviews by critics and fell flat in the box office. The Broken script actor will soon be seen on screen in yet another romantic movie named Sweetheart. Newbie director Swineeth S Sukumar has penciled and crafted the venture. Malayalam actress Gopika Ramesh, who played a supporting role in the web series Suzhal – The Vortex, has portrayed the female lead role in the project. Celebrated Malayalam film maker and scriptwriter Renji Panicker is set to make his acting debut in Kollywood with a key character in the drama. Sweetheart is all set to release in theaters worldwide on 14th of March.
The production house has begun to promote the film across multiple platforms. As part of it, they have now unveiled the trailer of the movie on social media. Taking to his official X handle, actor Rio Raj himself dropped a poster from the entertainer along with a link to the trailer of Sweetheart and captioned it, “A modern romance roller-coaster, reimagined with a twist of life. Sweetheart Trailer out now. Sweetheart From March 14.” Here is the post made by the actor.
Two minute trailer of Sweetheart opens to Rio Raj and his friend standing near an apartment complex, where the friend asks Rio Raj, “You said we broke up. I will not see her face again. Now what are you going to see by climbing up the flat?” He responds, “A matter. We must discuss and solve.” He says, “You could take the stairs for that.” He replies, “Yeah, I could. But her parents would be there.” The friend asks, “You are just going to talk, right?” In a funny scene where Rio Raj and Gopika Ramesh are intimate on her birthday, her parents enter her room with a cake to surprise her. They are shocked to see both together, a kid quips, “Grandpa, surprise is not for aunty.” We then learn that Gopika Ramesh’s character gets pregnant before marriage and that sets in motion a series of intricacies in their lives. Rio Raj’s character does not believe in a forever relationship which further complicates the situation.
Cast of the drama also includes actors Redin Kingsley, Fouzie Hidhaya, Tulasi Shivamani, and P A Aruna Chaleswaran. Music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored music for the venture. Two numbers ‘Awsum Kissa’ and ‘Kadhavai Thirandhaye’ are already out from the album. Cinematographer Balaji Subramanyam has been behind the lens for the drama. Editor Tamil Arasan has handled the editing department of the entertainer. Art director Siva Sankar has erected sets for the project. Stunt master Ramkumar has choreographed action moves for the venture. The project is bankrolled by Yuvan Shankar Raja under his home production YSR Films. K Senthil will be releasing the entertainer in Tamil Nadu under his production company Five Star.
On the professional front, actor Rio Raj is getting ready for this weekend’s release via the crime thriller Niram Marum Ulagil scripted by director J B Britto. The ensemble cast of the flick has actors Bharathiraja, Natarajan Subramaniam, Kaniha, Sandy Master, and Aadukalam Naren. The Plan Panni Pannanum actor is presently occupied in his future movie Aanpaavam Pollathathu filmed by debutant story teller Kalaiarasan Thangavel in which he will be featuring alongside actress Malavika Manoj.
