Film maker Arun Matheswaran is a fascinating addition to Kollywood. His filmography is the corroboration to it. The talented storyteller turned the attention of Tamil cinema audience towards him with his impressive debut venture Rocky with actor Vasanth Ravi in the lead. Though the movie did not do well commercially, it was critically acclaimed by the critics. Director Arun Matheswaran backed his work with another stunner in the likes of Saani Kaayidham with actress Keerthy Suresh and Selvaraghavan in the lead roles. Even his sophomore flick had a great reception among the critics. Now, he is all set to direct actor Dhanush in his next project. The film is christened Captain Miller. The production unit has plans to shoot the flick in real locations across the nation, and launch it as a pan Indian film in multiple languages.
The production team has been busy with the casting works. They recently brought actress Priyanka Mohan on board to play a part in the film. Now, they have roped in actor Sundeep Kishan to essay a vital role. The actor himself has announced the news on social media. Taking to his official twitter handle, the actor shared a poster of himself and wrote, “Pleased to be a part of the ambitious Captain Miller! Honored to work alongside a man of mammoth talent & a constant source of inspiration Dhanush K Raja anna. Thank the genius Arun Matheswaran & dear Sathya Jyothi for bringing this crazy part to me. G. Speaking about the flick to a leading media house, film maker Arun Matheswaran said, “Dhanush plays the titular role. But he will also be addressed with two other names. He has three different looks in the entertainer. I am sure his fans will love watching him in Captain Miller.” Answering why he picked actor Dhanush, he stated, “The central character of Captain Miller was shaped with an intention to make a high-octane action drama. The story was not written for a specific actor. But I felt that actor Dhanush would be perfect to portray the role. Personally, I like how he balances between being a popular star and a terrific performer. Captain Miller explores a life journey of over 15 years of its central character. There are a wide range of emotions and the transition part of a person’s life to be portrayed convincingly. I felt Dhanush would be able to do it perfectly.”
It is said that the story of Captain Miller is set at the backdrop of the pre-independence epoch in the Madras Presidency between 1930 – 1940. The musical department of the drama has been handed over to musician G. V. Prakash Kumar. Cinematographer Shreyas Krishna of Rocky fame will be shouldering the camera for the flick. Editor Nagooran has been bestowed with the responsibility to edit the movie. The project is bankrolled by T. G. Thyagarajan under the banner house Sathya Jyothi Films.
On the work front, actor Dhanush who was last seen on screens in the romantic comedy flick Thiruchitrambalam is gearing up for the release of his next project christened Vaathi helmed by film maker Venky Atluri in which he has romanced actress Samyuktha Menon. The actor will soon begin to shoot for his next venture that is tentatively titled D 46 which is set to be filmed by story teller Sekhar Kammula. Apart from these ventures, the Velai Illa Pattathari actor has Naane Varuven directed by Selvaraghavan in the post production shaping up for release.
