The film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ is being produced by Pa Ranjith who was the director of Kaala and this is one of the main reasons why this film gained so much attention since its announcement. The director of this film is Mari Selvaraj and the shooting has been completed. The lead roles in the film have been played by Kathir and Anandhi. This debutant director stated in an interview that Ranjith had paid a keen interest in his short stories that he used to publish in a Tamil magazine. And that is when Ranjith approached Selvaraj for a script and on hearing it, he decided to produce it himself.
When asked about the theme of the film, the director says that the film revolves around the life of people in the region of Tirunelveli-Thoothukudi. The title of the film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ is the name of a local deity and the hero has this name in the film. The role of Anandhi in the film is named Jothi Mahalakshmi and she is playing the love interest of Kathir. Yogi Babu is also present in the film but his role will be that of a character rather than a comedian. The cinematographer of the film is Sridhar of Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam fame.
