Kajol began acting with the 1992 romantic drama Bekhudi. Her first commercial success followed with Baazigar in 1993, and Yeh Dillagi added to her early run of leading roles. In 1995, she played Simran Singh in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, one of the defining films of her career. Other releases from the decade included Karan Arjun, Minsara Kanavu, Ishq, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya and Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha. She took on darker parts in Gupt: The Hidden Truth, in which she played Isha Diwan, and Dushman, where she appeared as twin sisters Sonia and Naina. Her performance in Gupt earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Villain. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, released in 1998, featured her as Anjali Sharma and brought her another major romantic lead. After Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001, she stepped away from full-time acting for several years. She returned to a leading role in Fanaa in 2006, playing Zooni Ali Beg, and later appeared in U Me Aur Hum, My Name Is Khan and We Are Family. Her subsequent films included Dilwale, the Tamil sequel Velaiyilla Pattathari 2, Helicopter Eela and the period drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Her more recent work has included films and streaming productions. She played Anuradha Apte in Tribhanga, Sujata in Salaam Venky and Devyani Singh in Lust Stories 2. In 2023, she led the series The Trial as lawyer Noyonika Sengupta. She then appeared as police officer Vidya Jyothi in Do Patti, followed by Maa and Sarzameen in 2025.Kajol Bio
