Auteur Vetrimaaran is probably the only director in Tamil cinema who has a large fan following in the state. Nearly every drama of his has had great reception among the audience, and has been bestowed with critical acclamations by film critics. The story teller had previously directed a short in the anthology movie Paava Kadhaigal. Now the director is gearing up for the release of his next directorial Viduthalai which is set to be released in two parts. The drama has actor Soori in the lead part. Actor Vijay Sethupathi will be seen in a pivotal role in the flick. The project is based on a short story written by famous author B. Jeyamohan. This has further amplified the expectation on the entertainer. The shoot for the first part of Viduthalai was wrapped a couple of months ago, and the shoot for second part was wrapped recently. The first single is penned by lyricist Suga, is sung by singers Dhanush and Ananya Bhat. Viduthalai will be released in languages Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The teaser of the flick is expected to be released soon. Viduthalai recently made headlines after a stuntman named Suresh fell to death while demonstrating a jumping stunt on the set despite all safety measures in place. There was uncertainty as to whether the project will reach completion. The team has bounced back quickly from a difficult situation, and has completed the venture. It is said that the production house is eyeing to bring the entertainer to the theaters for the summer of this year.
Actor Soori underwent a massive physical transformation to portray his part in Viduthalai. His evolution from starting out as a comedian to play lead hero in auteur Vetrimaaran film has received boundless support, and has inspired many aspiring actors. The actor has depicted the role of a police constable in Viduthalai, while actor Vijay Sethupathi has essayed the role of a teacher. Besides actors Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, the casting division of the venture has actors Gautham Vasudev Menon, Bhavani Sre, Prakash Raj, Rajiv Menon, and Chetan essaying various other supporting roles. Music director Ilaiyaraaja has composed music for the movie. Ace cinematographer R. Velraj has done cinematography for the film. Editor N. B. Srikanth has been brought on board to trim the entertainer. Stunt choreographer Peter Hein has designed action moves for the project. The movie is bankrolled by Elred Kumar for the production company RS Infotainment. Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies has bought the theatrical rights of the entertainer.
On the work front, actor Soori who was last seen on screens in a cameo role in the comedy drama Prince is currently busy shooting for another lead role in his untitled web series under storyteller Vikram Sugumaran. On the other hand, actor Vijay Sethupathi who had his last outing in Tamil in Michael is currently busy shooting for his upcoming Hindi film Jawan crafted by Atlee in which he will be co starring with actors Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara, for Mumbaikar helmed by Santhosh Sivan, for Gandhi Talks scripted by Kishor Pandurang Belekar, and for Merry Christmas directed by film maker Sriram Raghavan.
