Actor Dhanush had his last outing in the likes of the period action flick Vaathi which hit the screens under the direction of Venky Atluri with actress Samyuktha in the female lead part. The entertainer was tagged with mixed reviews by critics and audiences. Hence, it did not do well commercially. The Naane Varuvean actor has now moved on, and is gearing up for the release of his next film christened Captain Miller. Actress Priyanka Mohan of Doctor fame has portrayed the female lead role. Story teller Arun Matheswaran of Saani Kaayidham fame has written and directed the flick. Writer Madhan Karky has penned dialogues for the project. The entertainer which went on floors last year in Tirunelveli has been shot in the forest regions of Tenkasi district. The shoot for the film is now wrapped. The flick is in the post production stage getting refined for release.
Actor Dhanush recently celebrated his birthday. Taking to the special occasion the production unit shared the teaser of the drama on social media. Actor Sundeep Kishan released the teaser and extended birthday wishes to the actor. Taking to his official twitter page, the actor dropped a poster from the drama along with a link to the teaser of Captain Miller and wrote, “Wishing the Man with incredible talent and a beautiful heart Dhanush na a very very Happy Birthday. Love you Na. Here’s the teaser of Captain Miller. From the mad mind of dear Arun Matheswaran. Sathya Jyothi Films & the magic of G. V. Prakash Kumar.” Here is the tweet made by the actor.

One and a half minutes long teaser cut opens to a wanted poster of Miller. Then cuts to a raging battle field. The trailer gives us a few glimpses of the hard-fought battle to attain India’s independence. Captain Miller will be in theaters on 15th of December this year. The production team has plans to release the movie as a pan Indian flick in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Captain Miller is billed as a fast-paced action flick. The film is set at the backdrop of the pre-independence epoch in the Madras Presidency between 1930 – 1940.
Earlier speaking to a leading media house about Captain Miller, director Arun Matheswaran revealed, “Dhanush plays the titular role. But he will also be addressed with two other names. He has three different looks in the movie. I am sure his fans will love watching him in Captain Miller. The central character of Captain Miller was shaped with an intention to make a high-octane action film. The story was not written for a specific actor. But I felt that actor Dhanush would be perfect to portray the role. Personally, I like how he balances between being a popular star and a terrific performer. Captain Miller explores a life journey of over 15 years of its central character. There are a wide range of emotions and the transition part of a person’s life to be portrayed convincingly. I felt Dhanush would be able to do it perfectly.”
Beside actors Dhanush, and Priyanka Mohan, the casting department of Captain Miller has actors Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, John Kokken, Edward Sonnenblick, Nivedhithaa Sathish, Vinoth Kishan, Elango Kumaravel, Nassar, Viji Chandrasekhar, Merku Thodarchi Malai Antony, Bala Saravanan, Sumesh Moor, and Swayam Siddha depicting various other supporting roles. Music director G. V. Prakash Kumar has scored music for the flick. Cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni has been behind the lens for the entertainer. Editor Nagooran Ramachandran has been brought on board to trim the movie. Art director T Ramalingam has designed the background for the project. Action director Dhilip Subbarayan has choreographed action block for the venture. The movie is produced by T. G. Sendhil Thyagarajan along with Arjun Thyagarajan for the production company Sathya Jyothi Films.
On the work front, actor Dhanush who was last seen on screens in the period action movie Vaathi is currently busy shooting for his next film tentatively christened D 51 directed by story teller Sekhar Kammula, and for a Hindi movie christened Tere Ishk Mein helmed by director Anand L Rai in which he will be collaborating with actors Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan. He will soon begin to shoot for Raayan under his own direction in which he will be romancing actress Dushara Vijayan. Actress Priyanka Mohan who was last seen in Tamil in Don is currently busy shooting for her next Telugu flick OG crafted by Sujeeth in which she will be sharing screen space with actor Pawan Kalyan. On the other hand, actor Sundeep Kishan who had his last outing in Kollywood in the neo noir action thriller film Michael is currently busy shooting for his Telugu drama Ooru Peru Bhairavakona directed by V. I. Anand in which he will be co starring with actresses Kavya Thapar and Varsha Bollamma. Besides this venture, the actor has Naragasooran directed by filmmaker Karthick Naren in which he has associated with actors Aravind Swamy, Shriya Saran, and Aathmika in the box office awaiting to hit the screens.
