Actor Raghava Lawrence last graced the silver screens back in 2023 in Jigarthanda DoubleX directed by Karthik Subbaraj with actors S J Suryah and Nimisha Sajayan in lead roles. The Ketta Siva actor is now occupied in his upcoming action thriller film Benz. Storyteller Bakkiyaraj Kannan, who shot to fame with entertainers like Remo and Sulthan, is directing the movie. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has written the story of the flick. Malayalam actress Samyuktha of Vaathi fame has been paired against the actor in the drama.
The production team has now dropped a character promo video on social media. It gives a glimpse in to actor Nivin Pauly’s character from the movie. Taking to his official X handle, actor Nivin Pauly unveiled the character promo clip and wrote, “Thrilled to step in as ‘Walter’. Been waiting to Introduce you to him. He’s intense, he’s different, and he’s ready. Get ready for ‘Benz’. Thank you Lokesh Kanagaraj, Jagadish Palanisamy, Sudhan Sundaram. Let’s rock it Bakkiyaraj Kannan, Raghava Lawrence, Sai Abhyankkar. Benz. LCU.” Here is the post made by the actor.
Nearly three minutes long promo begins with actor Nivin Pauly thrashing someone in a room with a massive hammer, and walks out with it. He looks menacing with traces of blood and large gold chains around his neck. He looks at the camera and asks, “Now tell me what is his name?” The shot cuts to his dual character who says, “His name is . . . B E N S, Bens. No . . . no, it is not S. What is the last word in A B C . . .? Ha . . . Z. B E N Z.”
To which the other Nivin Pauly responds, “Who is going to chop the head inside that helmet like how they chop goats? Say my name.” With that we have the name ‘Walter’ appear on screen. The promo ends with him mouthing, “Dirty mind, beautiful heart, deadly combination. Love you, Walter.” Benz is the new addition to director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s universe after Kaithi and Vikram.
The casting crew is currently zeroing in on artists that will make up the cast. An official update regarding the same is expected to be made soon. Musician Sai Abhyankkar who delivered sensational hits such as ‘Katchi Sera’ and ‘Aasa Kooda’ will be making his debut as a music composer in the flick. The album of the film will have seven songs. Cinematographer Goutham George will be shouldering the camera for the drama.
Editor Philomin Raj has been signed in to trim the movie. Art director Jacki will be designing sets for the flick. Action director Anl Arasu will be choreographing action blocks for the project. Benz is bankrolled by Lokesh Kanagaraj under his home production G Squad in affiliation with Sudhan Sundaram under the production company Passion Studio, and Jagadish Palanisamy for the banner house The Route. Netflix OTT platform has bagged the post theatrical rights of the entertainer.
On the work front, actor Raghava Lawrence is eagerly awaiting the release of Bullet filmed by Innasi Pandiyan in which he has romanced actress Vaishali Raj. The Rudhran actor is simultaneous shooting for several of his future ventures Adhigaram helmed by director Durai Senthilkumar, Kaala Bhairava scripted by Ramesh Varma, Hunter crafted by storyteller Venkat Mohan, and Kanchana 4 directed and headlined by himself with actresses Pooja Hegde and Nora Fatehi as female leads.
On the other hand, actor Nivin Pauly has a slew of entertainers lined up in his pipeline for release in Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai scripted by Ram in which he will be seen alongside actors Soori & Anjali, a couple of Malayalam projects Dear Students filmed by Sandeep Kumar and George Philip in which he has co starred with actress Nayanthara, Dolby Dineshan directed by K V Thamar, and Baby Girl helmed by Arun Varma in which he has collaborated with actresses Lijomol Jose and Aditi Ravi.
