Actor Ashok Selvan is one of very few actors in Tamil cinema with an interesting choice of films to their name. The actor who entered K-town through the classic entertainer Soodhu Kavvuum helmed by Nalan Kumarasamy hit the right path with his neo noir mystery thriller drama Thegidi. The project performed well in terms of business. Unfortunately, though his choice of films is good the Oh My Kadavule actor is yet to have a decent commercial success after Thegidi. The actor was bestowed with a ray of hope when he got an opportunity to associate with film maker Venkat Prabhu for his next movie. As expected, the story teller pushed the buzz button on just with the title Manmadha Leelai.
When the titled of the film was announced it garnered the attention of the young sect of cinema audience. Before the heat cools down the production team released a teaser of actors Ashok Selvan and Samyuktha Hegde sharing a streamy lip lock for the project. As anticipated, the teaser went viral on the social media platforms. When the stream is still on the production house has announced the release date of the project. The adult entertainer will be hitting the screens on 1st of April. Actor Ashok Selvan himself has shared the news on social media and teased the audience with his word play. The actor took to his twitter handle, and shared a poster from the film, and wrote, ‘Manmadha Leelai from April 1st world wide release in theaters! So, are you ready for Leelie’s? A Venkat Prabhu Quickie.’
There is an old film with the same title starring veteran actor Kamal Hassan, Halam, Hema Chaudhary, and Jayaprada helmed by auteur K. Balachander. Seems like the production house has followed the right process to reuse the title. It is said that there is no relevance between the two films except for the title. The story for the flick has been penned by director Venkat Prabhu’s assistant Manivannan. Apart from actors Ashok Selvan and actress Samyuktha Hegde the film has actors Smruthi Venkat, Riya Suman, and Premgi Amaren in various other roles. The music for the drama has been composed by the director’s brother Premgi Amaren. The cinematography department has been handled by cinematographer Thamizh A Azhagan. Editor Venkat Rajen has trimmed the entertainer. The film is funded by Rajeswari Varadharajan and Muruganantham under the banner house Rockfortent Entertainment.
On the work front, actor Ashok Selvan who will have a release in Manmadha Leelai on April 1 is also gearing up for a back to back release of his ventures Hostel, Aakasham, and Nitham Oru Vaanam which are in various stages of post-production. As of now, the actor has not inked his signature for any other project. On the other hand, actress Samyuktha Hegde is currently busy shooting for her Kannada projects Raana and Kreem. She has finished shooting for her next Kannada drama Thurthu Nirgamana which is in the post production. As of now, the actress is yet to sign a project in Tamil.
