Actors turning politicians and contesting in elections is not a new norm in Indian Politics. The latest entrant to this list is Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut. As India is gearing up for its 18th Lok Sabha Elections parties are busy in selecting the right candidates, and preparing election manifestos and campaigns. The Ruling Party BJP has already announced a list of its candidates in 4 phases and the 5th phase of the list was released yesterday. Actress Kangana Ranaut found herself in the list as she is contesting from the Mandi Parliament constituency in Himachal Pradesh. Earlier this year she expressed her interest in contesting elections and Mandi has also been her birthplace.

Mandi Lok Sabha seat currently held by Prathiba Singh of the Indian National Congress will witness the heated battle between the two counterparts. Following the announcement, she expressed her gratitude on her social media handle X. She Wrote “My beloved Bharat and Bhartiya Janta’s own party, Bharatiya Janta party (BJP) has always had my unconditional support, today the national leadership of BJP has announced me as their Lok Sabha candidate from my birthplace Himachal Pradesh, Mandi (constituency) I abide by the high command’s decision on contesting Lok Sabha polls. I feel honoured and elated to officially join the party. I look forward to being a worthy Karyakarta and a reliable public servant. Thanks”.
On the Professional front, she will be next seen in her directorial flick “Emergency” in which she is playing the role of Former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi.
