Multitalented star Dhanush K Raja was last seen on screens in Tamil Telugu bilingual movie Kuberaa helmed by director Sekhar Kammula with actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. The Vada Chennai star is now eagerly anticipating the release of his upcoming entertainer Idly Kadai. The Telugu version of the film is titled Idly Kottu. Besides playing the lead in the drama, Dhanush K Raja has also inked the script, and directed the project.
Actress Nithya Menen, who last collaborated with actor Dhanush in Thiruchitrambalam, has portrayed the female lead in the movie. Actor Arun Vijay has essayed a prominent character in the entertainer. The shoot for the film took place in various zones of Chennai, Theni, Pollachi, and in Bangkok. The drama is scheduled to release in theaters worldwide on 1st of October. The trailer launch function of the flick took place in Coimbatore recently. The production unit has now unveiled the trailer on social media.
Taking to their official X account, the production team of Wunderbar Films shared a special poster along with links to Tamil & Telugu trailers of Idly Kadai and wrote, “The journey from hearth to heart, from roots to reach. The nearly two and a half minutes long trailer of Idly Kadai opens to a salesman demoing electric grinder to Dhanush and his family, “Look how it grinds smoothly and easily.” Dhanush tells his father (Rajkiran), “Dad, let us somehow buy it. We do not have to grind for hours on end.” The scene cuts to a younger version of Rajkiran teaching a young Dhanush how to grind, “One round for the baby lamb. . . A machine can do anything. But lacks the practiced touch of the hand. It must come from the heart.”
Then we have a voiceover of actor Dhanush, “General belief is we should take up a job we like in life. One does not need to be a big shot of a business man. Can be a cook dishing out soft steamed rice cakes.” The shot cuts to Sathyaraj saying, “Our profits have escalated 15% after Murugan joined our company.” Subsequently, we see Arun Vijay complimenting Dhanush, “Sooper. I say! You are the perfect employee.” The second half of the trailer has actor Dhanush return to his village and start to run his father’s small eatery.
The casting crew of Idly Kadai also includes veteran actor Rajkiran, Geetha Kailasam, P Samuthirakani, R Parthiban Shalini Pandey, Ilavarasu, Brigida Saga, Indumathy Manikandan, Sathyaraj, and Vadivukkarasi. Music director G V Prakash Kumar has overseen the musical division of the film. Idly Kadai marks their ninth collaboration after the sensational albums in Polladhavan, Mayakkam Enna, Asuran, and Captain Miller. Already three numbers ‘Enna Sugam’, ‘Enjaami Thandhaane’, and ‘En Paattan Saami Varum’ are out from the album.
Cinematographer Kiran Koushik has shouldered camera for the movie. Editor G K Prasanna has been bestowed with the responsibility to chop and patch the entertainer. Art director Rahul has engineered sets for the project. Action director Peter Hein has choreographed action moves for the venture.
Idly Kadai is produced by Dhanush himself under his production company Wunderbar Films in affiliation with Aakash Baskaran for the production house Dawn Pictures. Actor and politician Udhayanidhi Stalin’s son Inbanithi will be bringing the film to screens under his production label Red Giant Movies.
On the work side, actor Dhanush is currently focused on his future venture tentatively christened D 54 crafted by Vignesh Raja in which he will be featuring alongside actress Mamitha Baiju, D 55 directed by story teller Rajkumar Periasamy, D 56 filmed by director Mari Selvaraj, and a Bollywood flick Tere Ishk Mein scripted by Aanand L Rai in which he will be partnering with actors Prabhu Deva and Kriti Sanon. Apart from these entertainers, he has a couple of biopics in preproduction stage in the likes of Kalam based on APJ Abdul Kalam set to be crafted by Om Raut, and Ilaiyaraaja directed by Arun Matheswaran.
On the work front, actor Arun Vijay is keenly awaiting the release of his next movie Retta Thala helmed by Kris Thirukumaran in which he has collaborated with actresses Siddhi Idnani and Tanya Ravichandran. Beside this flick, the Oh My Dog actor has his long-delayed ventures Agni Siragugal scripted by Naveen in which he has shared screen space with actors Vijay Antony & Akshara Haasan, and Borrder filmed by Arivazhagan in the box waiting for release.
