Actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj has not had a solid commercial success in a long time, and is working hard to bag one. The Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam actor had his last outing in the likes of the anthology web series Story Of Things which hit the SonyLIV OTT video streaming platform under the directorial of George K Antoney with actors Aditi Balan, Vinoth Kishan, and Anshita Anand in the lead roles. The series is yet to gain popularity among the audience. The actor has now put that behind him, and is gearing up for the release of his upcoming flick titled Raavana Kottam. Actress Anandhi of Kayal fame has essayed the female lead role. Director Vikram Sugumaran of Madha Yannai Koottam fame has written and crafted the drama. The entertainer which went on floors with a small pooja ceremony some time ago, was wrapped by the end of 2021. Due to reasons best known to the production unit the project got delayed. However, the movie is finally up for release.
The production house had released the trailer of the drama a couple of weeks back. Now, they have released a romantic number ‘Athana Per Mathiyila’ from the film on social media along with its release date. Raavana Kottam is slated to hit the theaters on 12th of May. Actor Jayam Ravi has shared the trailer. Taking to his official twitter account, the actor dropped the number, and wrote, “A beautiful melody “அத்தனபேர் மத்தியில” video song from இராவண கோட்டம் starring my dear brother Shanthanu Bhagyaraj & Anandhi. Four minutes odd number opens to actress Anandhi decked up in a traditional attire reminiscing a kiss she shared with Shanthanu Bhagyaraj. In the middle of the song video, we have a shot, where the actress in a school dress asks Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, “You kissed me and left. Now who will marry me? You must marry me. Hug me.” Singers Yazin Nizar and Vandana Srinivasan have crooned the number. Lyricist Karthik Netha has penned lyrics for the song. The track has enjoyed a great reception among the audience. Raavana Kottam is touted to be a romance drama set around the popular traditional Tamil sport Jallikattu. The production team had released the first look poster of Raavana Kottam earlier this year. The poster had a beefed-up Shanthanu Bhagyaraj running alongside a bull with a rope tied around the neck of the bull in his hand.
Apart from actors Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, and Anandhi, the casting department of the venture has actors Prabhu, Ilavarasu, PL Thenappan, Deepa Shankar, Aruldoss, Sathya NJ, Sanjay Saravanan, Ekadasi, and Sujatha Sivakumar portraying various other supporting parts. Music director Justin Prabhakaran has composed music for the film. Cinematographer Vetrivel Mahendran has done cinematography for the flick. Editor Lawrence Kishore has been brought on board to edit the movie. Art directors Narmadha Veni and Raju have designed backgrounds for the project. Stunt master Rock Prabhu has choreographed action blocks for the movie. The entertainer is funded by Kannan Ravi under the production house Kannan Ravi Group.
On the work front, actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj who was last seen on screens in Story Of Things is currently busy shooting for his next drama titled Peralai scripted by G. K in which he will be seen alongside veteran actor Arjun Sarja. On the other hand, actress Kayal Anandhi who was last seen on screens in Yugi is currently busy shooting for her next film christened Titanic Kaadhalum Kavundhu Pogum under the direction of story teller M. Janakiraman in which she will be sharing screen space with actor Kalaiyarasan.
