Until a couple of years back Arun Vijay was one among the list of the most talented artists who are quite underrated in the Tamil film industry. But the past couple of years seems to be a good beginning of what might be a bright future for the actor with back to back hits in the forms of Kuttram 23, Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and the recent super hit film Thadam directed by Magizh Thirumeni, which is also set to be remade in Bollywood.
After wrapping up the shoot of his film Agni Siragugal with Vijay Antony the actor has moved on to his next project. It will be Boxer in the cards for the actor next. Touted to be a sports film based on professional boxing, the flick will be directed by debutant director Vivek. The actor who confirmed the project last year on his birthday had been under rigorous training sessions to learn regular boxing under the guidance of the stunt maestro Peter Hein. Now nearly after two months of learning regular boxing the actor has left for Lienphong Martial Arts Centre to undergo Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) training. It is said that the actor will be training in Vietnam for at least a couple of weeks.
Taking to his social media account, the actor shared a picture of him from the academy and stated, ‘Starting my MMA training in Vietnam from today.’ The shooting for the film is expected to go on floors from the end of June.
Speaking about the project, the director stated, “The film is not just like regular commercial sports films. The film will walk around the pressures that established boxers face in the field. The film is about how he breaks through the barriers to get to the position where he wants to be,” concluded the director.
Ritika Singh, who shot to fame after her role as a lead boxer in Irudhi Suttru will be the leading lady of the film in which she will be seen as a boxer turned sports journalist. The musical instruments for the film will be handled by Leon James. While Markus will be behind the lens, Madan will be trimming the film. The film will be bankrolled by Mathiyalagan under the banner Etcetera.
On the work front, the actor is gearing up for the release of his Telugu flick Saaho in which he has shared the screen space with Baahubali fame actor Prabhas. Apart from this film the actor has Vaa Deal in his kitty.
