Sudha Kongara, the Irudhi Suttru fame story teller garnered the attention of Tamil cinema audience with the sports drama. The former associate director of Mani Ratnam a couple of months ago announced that she will be directing actor Suriya in her next venture. The project which went on floors last month with a formal pooja is current being shot at Chennai in full swing. Now, we have an interesting addition to the cast of Soorarai Pottru.
Earlier we had reported that Bollywood veteran actor Jackie Shroff will be playing an important role in the film. Now, we have reports stating that National award winning actor and politician Paresh Rawal has been brought on board to depict a pivotal role. According to a source close to the unit, “Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal has been roped in to play the antagonist role. He is set to don the role of a business airline’s head executive officer in the project.” Soorarai Potturu will mark the Tamil debut of the actor. Bringing on board such an experienced artist is indeed a great addition to the cast. As the unit had already announced that Jackie Shroff is on board, it will be interesting to see what role does he portray in the flick. The unit had also stated that veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu will also essay a pivotal role in the movie. No wonder why Sudha Kongara wanted to release the project as a multi lingual film.
The drama is said to be based on real life incidents of G. R. Gopinath of Air Deccan, who was the man behind the design of budget economy airfare that was aimed at people of all sectors. Speaking about the project some time ago, the director had stated, “I came across a news paper article which was about the real life incident of Gopinath of Air Deccan, about how he struggled to bring out his dream to reality and that inspired me to make a script out of it.”
The Motion picture is produced by the actor himself under his home banner 2 D Entertainments partnering with Sikhya Entertainment. Malayalam actress Aparna Balamurali will play the love interest of actor Suriya in the movie. The music for the venture is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. While Niketh Bommi Reddy will be seen behind the camera for the flick, Sathish Suriya will be trimming the project.
Actor Suriya’s last outing with the much anticipated film NGK under the directorial of director Selvaraghavan did not fair in the box office as expected. The actor is under pressure to deliver a hit under his name to reinstate his market. On the other hand, after the success of Irudhi Suttru, the expectations on film maker Sudha Kongara’s next project are quite high. We will have to wait to see whether Sudha Kongara’s Soorarai Potturu delivers for Suriya.
On the work front, actor Suriya is gearing up for the release of his next film Kaappaan under the directorial of K. V. Anand. Apart from this movie, the actor will be teaming up with director Siruthai Siva for his next drama.
