SJ Surya is one of very few multi talented artists that K town has got on its list. The director turned actor set foot as a film maker in the Tamil film industry through his film Vaali starring Thala Ajith in dual roles. The film turned out to be a silver jubilee hit which shot him to fame in overnight. Following which the director directed Thalapathy Vijay in Kushi which went on to become a block buster film and was remade in Telugu as well as in Hindi.
The director who made many hard to convince critics in the industry to shower praises on him for his performance as Arul in the film Iraivi directed by Karthik Subbaraj, again turned many heads towards him by his performance as Sudalai in Spyder. The actor who was last seen in grey shades in the Thalapathy starrer Mersal directed by Atlee, is now gearing up for the release of his Tamil fantasy comedy film Monster, directed by Oru Naal Koothu fame director Nelson Venkatesan. The flick will have him in the lead role with actress Priya Bhavani Shankar donning the female lead role.
Yesterday, the one minute teaser of the flick hit the internet which promises for a quirky fun. Music director Justin Prabhakaran shines in the teaser with fitting back ground score which plays along with the comical scenes in the teaser. SJ Suriya was seen in the role of a person who has an usual obsession with a particular intelligent rat, named ‘Monster.’ A film maker from Kollywood industry making such an ambitious attempt to depict such a story to the audience seems as a light at the end of the tunnel for Tamil cinema.
Though Hollywood film makers have already had their hands on the genre in the films like Ratatouille and Stuart Little, a film of such kind made in Tamil cinema has put the audience in much excitement. Let us hope that the film stands up to the expectations of the audience. The film is set to hit the screens on 17th of May. Apart from actors SJ Suriya and Priya Bhavani, the film will have actor Karunakaran in a pivotal role. The film is bankrolled by Potential Studios production house. The cinematography for the film is performed by Gokul Benoy while the editing department is handled by V. J. Sabu Joseph.
On the work front, the actor is currently busy shooting for his film Uyarndha Manithan which will hit the screens under the directorial of director Tamilvannan also starring the Badsha of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan and Ramya Krishnan in pivotal roles. Apart from this the actor has finished shooting for his romantic thriller film Iravaakaalam starring actresses Sshivada Nair and Wamiqa Gabbi as female leads. The film is in the post production stage and is expected to hit the screens soon. Besides all these films, the director has in his pipeline the already baked and much anticipated film Nenjam Marappathillai director by Selvaraghavan. Due to some unknown reasons the film is yet to see the day light.
